Christmas Play Photos

Bethany and Jenna were in our church's Christmas play, An Island Christmas. Jenna sang in the kindergarten choir, then Beth sang and acted in the play. We hope you enjoy these pictures!

Jenna's Door Sign

Bethany had a sign on her door that says "Keep Out," so I made my own little sign for my bedroom door.

Swimming (& Floating) Lessons

Me and my sister took swimming lessons this fall. My teacher was nice and my favorite thing to do was floating. I didn't know my hair splayed out like an octopus with a lot of little legs when I floated.

I also liked helping Jenna float. She still needs a little practice.

My Thanksgiving Turkey

My class made Thanksgiving turkeys today. It is made out of a nut, googly eyes and feathers. Madeline gave us the pinecone. She is my friend at school.

I got to pick my own feathers and I used all the ones that were there. I had fun doing it. The turkey is on my dresser now.

Funny Bedtime Video

Sometimes before we go to bed, Daddy lets us watch this video. It's very funny. But Daddy says this one is even funnier, but we didn't actually watch it.

Daddy also said he's sorry to get the tune stuck in everyone's heads. This link should help take care of that.

Election Day at the Polling Place!

Our mom worked at the local polling place yesterday. She was an Election Official!

We got to pretend to be Election Officials too! That's us, sitting behing the Official Voting Table for the 31st Precinct with Mommy's new Election Official friends.

Mommy showed us how to use the computerized voting machines. It was awesome.

And then we pretended to vote on the computer. Mr. Tom showed us a real card to use with the machine, but Mommy didn't let us actually vote.

And then we pretended to vote again, this time in the booth for paper ballots, even though we didn't actually have ballots.

It was so much fun! Just 12 more years before Bethany can vote for real, and 16 more years for Jenna!

Election Day Eve

I'm so excited for election day to come. I love day care at my school, and since Mommy is going to be working the polls I get to stay for day care for a while until Daddy comes to get me. My teacher Miss Stephanie also wants to be a poll worker.

Halloween Costumes

We had a great time trick-or-treating tonight. Our costumes came from our great-aunt Bonnie - she and her sister wore them when they were little. Every house we went to said we were so cute.

Plays & Politics

First, let's do the play. I got the part of Lora in a play called An Island Christmas. It is a play that is put on at my church. We are going to perform at Christmas time. Lora is smart, resourceful and everyone's friend, according to the script. It is really fun being Lora.

I have never been in a play before. We are learning six songs to sing for the audience. I am trying out for a solo. I hope I get it.

Now for the politics.

I think McCain is being silly by raising the number of nuclear power plants. It's dangerous! I would rather see solar power plants. I like them better because it's a renewable source and it doesn't pollute at all. I think Obama will be a good president if he wins and I think McCain would be too - if he didn't raise the number of nuclear power plants.

Jenna's Tooth Pulling!!!!

Hi!

I pulled my own tooth because it was loose. It felt really good and it didn't hurt at all. Mommy tried to pull it but it hurt when she did it. It's really surprising how it didn't hurt when I did it. Maybe it was just a fairy's magic.

The Tooth Fairy came, but it was weird. At first, the coin wasn't there in the morning when I got up. But later, when I showed Daddy that the tooth fairy didn't come, it was there. Maybe I was up before she planned. Maybe she didn't know it was a Sunday morning.

The Tooth Fairy gave me a new New York City coin [Daddy's note: one of those new $1 coins with the Statue of Liberty on it]. It is very pretty and its so cool.

Mimi and Pop Pop were here when I pulled my tooth and they were excited too. I can't wait until 8 weeks are over. Then Christmas is going to be here. Whoo-hoo!

Jenna's Artwork

This is a picture of me and Beth, Murphy and Zoe and lots of pots of gold. We are having a big party because we found lots of pots of gold. A bird and two butterflies are flying in the sky.

I like this drawing because it's very very pretty and has lots of artwork in it.

Beth's Artwork

It took me about two days to do this drawing. It was fun and hard and challenging at the same time.

It is a picture of The Castle In The Mist. I was thinking about fairies and freedom when I made this drawing. My favorite part in this drawing is the moat.

Beth's Mandarin Lessons

I have been taking Mandarin lessons in school and it's fun and challenging at the same time.

My teacher is nice - very nice. Her name is Miss Wong. She has taught us Daddy, Mommy, Big Sister, Little Sister, Big Brother, Little Brother, Correct, Not Correct, Hello, Goodbye, Pencil, Eraser, and the numbers 1-6. That's a lot to remember. It's a fun challenge that I get to do with all my friends.

I have eaten Chinese chicken, carrots and dumplings with chopsticks - the right way. Dad and Mom taught me that. The dumpling was good. Even the meat.

Jenna's Words of Wisdom

"When you're flying backwards, it's hard to tell where you're going to crash, especially if you're out of control."

- Overheard from the back seat of the car as Daddy was driving Jenna home from school.

Colors (by Beth)

I have done some very colorful artwork of houses. I can't find the notebook that they're in so I won't be able to post it today, but we'll try to find it and post it eventually.

I've also done some pretty good traces of unicorns lately.

I like doing pencil sketches and then coloring it in with crayons. If I could draw one thing really well, it would be a pegasus.

My art teacher at school is really, really nice, and she gives us cool projects like making a Van Gogh style painting. Mine is of a meadow with trees in it and a couple walking down a path through a meadow. My painting is not done yet, but if I'm allowed to bring it home, I'll have Daddy take a picture and post it here.

From Jenna

Thank you a lot for sending those comments on my blog.

Daddy: So Jenna, who would you vote for in the election if you could vote?

Jenna: Obama.

Daddy: Why would you vote for him?

Jenna: Because I think he's going to be a great president if he wins.

Daddy: What issues are important to you?

Jenna: Enough money for the schools. Clean air. Air conditioners and heaters for schools. And lots of other stuff. Ok. That's all I want to say.

Boomer Sister Jekka

Hi! My name is Jenna. I love to draw and color. I love music and singing. I'm five years old and I love to climb trees - a lot! My dad had a fun time rescuing me one time when I got stuck on one of the trees.

Mommy bought me a toy seal, Hello Kitty kleenex, and a little jar of jelly when she was at the MOPS convention in Texas. Beth and I had a fun time at "Camp Daddy." It's fun when Mommy's gone.

The new Boomer Sisters book is about when we get captured by pirates. It was awesome but a little bit scary. My daddy says it will be ready by Christmas time.

About Me

My name is Bethany. Since I won the Rock-Paper-Scissors game, I get to introduce myself first (usually my sister wins).

I'm 9 years old and in fourth grade. I like to read and do drawings. My favorite book is Whales On Stilts, by M. T. Anderson. This is a must-read!

I am very excited to have my own blog and I hope you'll come back often.
